Quick CPS question

Like many other people on the board I have been battling a horrible miss. It is constant at idle and through the rpm range until about 2500 (or at least i cant feel it anymore at that point) My company truck is in the shop so i've been forced to drive the car and now it is kicking a Crankshaft Position Sensor code. My question is could that be causing my miss or did my miss cause the code? Yet another thing to add to my laundry list of problems. I really MISS my car running good.

Re: Quick CPS question

The Crank Position Sensor (CKP) is what the PCM uses to detect misfires. Are you saying your getting a code like 300 for misfires or are you getting a code like 335 or 336 for CKP circuit problems?

Re: Quick CPS question

Do you actually feel the engine misfiring?

Re: Quick CPS question

Oh yeah. It's most definitely missing. At idle, during acceleration and while cruising.

Re: Quick CPS question

Try pulling out the sensor and cleaning it then reset the DTC's and see what returns.

Re: Quick CPS question

I think that got it. The miss is still there but no more CPS code. Thanks Slopok, you always seem to come through for me.
