Quick Coil Wire Question
I need to order a coil wire today or tomorrow. Are the coil wires for a stock LT1 setup female/female, male/female or male/male? Based on the appearance of the coil, I'm assuming at least one end is female. I called Summit and the guy I spoke to gave me a part number for an MSD that is male/male and I don't believe that's correct.
Thanks.
Thanks.
93-95 has coil wire with an opti boot/connector on one end and a normal, right angle plug wire end looking boot/connector on the other. I would consider that male/female.
96-97 has an opti type boot/connector on both ends. I would consider that male/male.

Thanks. I owe you a donation.
So an MSD 84049, that part number might be specific to Summit, female/female with 90 degree boots wouldn't work? Maybe I'll just order a new stock wire from Jason. An aftermarket wire may not offer any benefit anyway. I'm going to replace the stock coil, so I thought I would get an MSD wire from the same place.

I called MSD and got an answer to my question. I guess they don't make a direct replacement coil wire for an LT1 and if they do it's not sold individually but rather as part of an entire wire replacement kit.
I believe if you order a full set of plug wires, it comes with both types of LT1 coil wires. You just use the one you need.

That's correct. The part numbers MSD gave me were 32143 or 32149 depending upon whether you want red or black wires. I just ordered a new stock coil wire. I'm planning to do headers at some point and wasn't sure whether those MSD wires would be what I wanted when I do get around to changing my plugs & wires and I didn't feel like dropping 100 bucks just to get a new coil wire. It sounds like most people go over the valve cover with headers and I doubt those wires would work for that application.

That is the year I need, but I guess it's too late as I've already ordered a stock replacement. I would be willing to put a sticker on my car stating Coil Wire Supplied By Munson if the price is right.
