Quick Cloyes Double Roller Question.

I have a 1994 Camaro and I used the optiswap guide to move from my old opti setup to the new 95 system. I was curious If I had to purchase the Cloyes timing set or if I would be ok with purchasing just the chain.

Here are the new parts I upgraded to.

Part Part Number
----------------------------------------------------
Electric Harness 123130319
VAC Harness 12555323
VAC Fitting 14082470
Timing Cover (95) with gaskets 12552426
Intake Gaskets 12524653
Water Pump Gaskets (2) 10128343
Stock Replacement Timing Chain 10128485
95 Cam Timing Gear 10206039
OPTI (95 vented) 1104032

Thanks!

Re: Quick Cloyes Double Roller Question.

You cannot put a Cloyes double roller chain on stock sprockets. Different design.

Looks like you already bought the stock cam gear and chain. I would have bought a crank gear, too (MHO).

Re: Quick Cloyes Double Roller Question.

Doh! So whats the crank gear part number? Wont my 94 version work? Will the LT4 Timing Chain that goes for $200 work with the stock sprocket? Sounds like I purchased to many parts at once before investigating more.

I am in the process of trying to contact Jason Cromer and see if maybe perhaps I can exchange or refund the items that I wont be needing.

No, you dont need or want any of it. Spend $60 on a cloyes SBC double roller, pick up an electric water pump and be done with it forever.

Look on my part numbers page.
Your gear will work. I just don't ever mix new and old parts in timing sets. I don't like putting a new chain on an old, worn gear. It doesn't make sense to me.

Re: Quick Cloyes Double Roller Question.

Will the regular SBC Cloyes double roller work on the LT1 with electric water pump or does it need the the 87 and newer set?

Re: Quick Cloyes Double Roller Question.

It has to be 87 up from my understanding. I believe the only kit that fits our cars it the xxx-x-3145 from what I am aware. I believe it goes for $60 from summit.
