quick cat question

SO i heard an annoying dinging sound from under my car today and i found that the top of the cat (which appears to be a heat shield) has broken all of its welds but one and before I go to the trouble of fixing this I want to know if it is necessary....I asssume it is but I simply wanted to double check. Thanks.

I'd really say that this would be your call. The converter is directly under the front passenger, hence the bump in the floor in front of the passenger's seat, and without the heat shield it could get a little warm. I don't know how much this would really affect the interior heat level, but I could only say that it's probably there for a reason.

I agree with 94Z28rag, it would prolly cause the floor to get a little warm. You could always just use this as a reason to put an off road pipe in the place of it.
