I just put in a new K&N CAI, a Flowmaster 80 Series Muffler, and got a full suspension. I have $400 left, what's the best bang for my buck?

 

Long tube headers get my vote

 

Get a Magnaflow catback and throw the Flowmaster away.

Nothing wrong with the Flowmaster 80 series. My times back it up(I have Flowmaster 17133 catback system). My biggest gripe with them is the current positioning of some of the hangers in the system. They are flat in the wrong spot. My *****ing post here....

Long tubes are worth some very good gains. I picked up 5mph in the 1/8 moving to them from the stock exhaust manifolds and y-pipe(running my CC503 setup). Given that you have a '95, just a good y-pipe will net you 10hp. According to Jon Moss, it was that change in the y-pipe from '95 to '96 that was responsible for the rating bump from 275hp to 285hp. Mind you, that y-pipe did have a cat attached to the drivers side.

I "think" the long tubes will bolt up to your stock down pipe to the muffler, but make sure. You could need a full catback system(you did mention just having the muffler).

 

Alright that sounds good, but how much would those cost to get installed? Or could I do it with a few big toolboxes and a lot of time?

 

You will need some patience and the proper installation hardware. Most long tubes have to be installed from under the car. I found that buying ARP 1" header bolts were a world of help. They have a 12 point small head that greatly increases clearance around the tube when installing the bolts. I also used a Percy's dead soft header gasket kit to insure no leaks.

I had my car around 20"-24" off the ground for the install. I've been meaning to get my install pictures up in the exhaust section for a couple of years. I'll try to get them up tonight and link you to them.

headers woke my car up alot....if you have an auto?? save up for a higher stall converter...my vig 2800 stall took a half second off my quarter times.

 

I don't think $400 is going to cover a set of long tubes much less all the required installation items or any labor involved. I'd pick something else.

 

I was thinking used, and that he'd be able to do self install, otherwise, probably not. I always seem to forget that not everyone can do their own work
