Talking questions on the canton 15-242T pan?

Ive been searching around, but where have you found the cheapest place to buy the canton 15-242T road racing oil pan? Also, which oil pump did you decide on, the stock volume high pressure or the high volume high pressure? Also, can you use the stock GM oil pan gasket, or do you have to use their gasket? Do you reuse your stock oil pan metal straps under the bolts? Can you use the stock oil pan bolts? Can you reuse the stock dipstick tube too, just remark on the dipstick your new full mark?
Thanks, sorry, I know there is lots of questions!

Melling standard pump
Canton pickup (very nice piece)
felpro gasket
metal straps, I used them, but that pan is hefty, it might be ok without. Did a cam swap with this pan on the car and had to almost remove the pan to get the timing cover off/on. Its a lot stiffer than the stock one.
stock pan bolts yes
I had to cut down my dipstick tube, I think it was hitting my main studs though

Not to advertise, just trying to help the guy out. I got mine here:
clicky
I have not heard a lot about them, someone on here told me to stay away from them. But I ordered my pan Wednesday, shipped ground, had it on Friday. They are the cheapest I found.

**Edits:
There website sucks. Be sure to double check you pan/pickup part numbers from the Canton site. carshopinc doesn't have good descriptions, but they do have the right part numbers.

Its a 357. GM847, heads done by a local shop. The flow numbers are similar to an LE2 set.

HighV pumps are for bigblocks. A few people use them and are fine, but I make 60psi @ WOT and pegged the gauge past 80 when I spin above 6000. Thats with a stock V pump and the stock 60psi spring. I feel like more would just be pumping extra to the topend.

HP level, I haven't been to a dyno yet, but am looking for a tad over 400 at the wheels. I am spraying a 200 shot though too.... So easily 550hp/650tq+ to the wheels.

Only extra thing I added was a milodon(sp?) baffle that goes between the pan/pickup. Don't know if it helped but it was @ $5 from Summit, and it can't hurt.

haha, just checked out the website, that is a great price, from what I have found. So, as long as you bought that with no issues there, I will probably do the same! Did you get the pickup from them too? if that felpro gasket works, then the GM one must work too, huh?

what do you mean you added a baffle? What did it do? Where exactly did it go? How did you mount it? Is it needed? What was that part number, if I may ask... Also, did this pan include a baffle for keeping the oil from flying forward on heavy braking, as well as keeping oil from flying to the rear and upwards during heavy acceleration?

I have that canton pan and also a high vol. pump. I'm not sure that I needed it on my 383, but that was what my builder wanted to use. 35psi hot idle 10w30 and over 70psi above 6krpm. I'm making 470 to the wheels.

The baffle is just a flat sheet that goes between the pump/pickup. It needs to be trimmed to fit the shape of the pan. It keeps oil from climbing up the back of the pan under hard accel.

The baffle under the pump is not needed with a Canton 242 pan unless ya planning to run the quarter on the rear wheels.
It is needed with a stock pan.

I got the 242t pan, canton pickup, melling std volume pump and a fel pro gasket. Everything fit up just fine, and I used the stock straps.

Use a SBC cork gasket. With the Canton I have found there are less leaks at both ends. When ya put in the end rubber seals lube the outer part with a light grease(white lube or Lubraplate) before putting on the pan and it will let the pan slide on them and keep it from grabbing the seal and pulling it out of shape.
