Questions after Long Tube Install

I installed the TPIS long tube headers w/ the off road y-pipe on my 97 Z28. The car runs great, but I noticed yesterday when at stop lights I could see light gray exhaust (like when a car is cold) coming out of the tailpipes. It was a day in the 50's and raining out, the car was up to its normal operating temp of around 190° F. Is this normal? I put brand new 02 sensors in and it has new plugs, plug wires also. Could it be running rich? Would it have to do with the fact that my 02 sensors are now probably a foot from the factory location? The service engine soon light is on but that is most likely do to the fact I don't have the egr hooked up.

FYI, If anybody wants headers that allow them to get access to the spark plugs with ease, than these headers are for you. Install was easy and now I could change plugs in probably a 1/2hr or less.

I wouldn't worry, that sounds normal for the weather conditions you described.

My car does that in that temperature and rain as well and i dont have headers...yet... i wouldnt worry. next time it happens, look at the vehicles in front of you. their exhaust is probably doing the exact same thing.

How is the ground clearance on these? Similar to stock, or do they hang down a good bit. Everything I've read on them says they are the best LTs for ground clearance. How is the fit with their y-pipe? Any problems during install?

I'm seriously considering these, and just need some good feedback to push me over the edge.

My jet-hots hug the floorboard. Pacesetters hug the floorboard. TPIS headers hug the floorboard. You can only get so much clearance out of a set of long tubes, and most of them are close to exactly alike, minus the hookers, which are about 1/2" lower.

TPIS are way ovepriced IMO. The only thing they have going for them is that they're equal length

I wouldn't say the TPIS are over priced, you get what you pay for. The install was super easy, it took more work to get the factory stuff off then to install the TPIS headers, both went in from the top. The headers probably don't sit any lower than the oil pan, the y-pipe is okay and doesn't sit any lower than the tranny. I had some fittment issues with the y-pipe, it wasn't sized to fit the collectors, I took it to a local muffler shop and they just tweaked it a little. After that it went on with ease. If I had a good way of getting the car over to this shop (probably 25+mi from my house) I wouldn't have used TPIS's y-pipe but open headers it was just plain loud. Plus plug access is exceptional, and they look awesome.

I didn't choose Jet Hot because of all of the complaints I read about fittment and I had heard the TPIS had the best ground clearance. Which was a big concern since I want to lower the car, I haven't scrapped them on speed bumps nor my steep driveway.

I can defintely tell a difference in the cars performance, I will be getting it dyno'd soon to see how much of difference they really made. I dyno'd it last year with just my flowmaster and cai and I managed 270rwhp, so maybe I can reach 300?!?

LT4Firehawk, I love these headers and if you have the money I think they are well worth it. Good luck.
