Question Questions about SLP's CAI

I got a SLP CAI off one of the members of the board.
And am very happy with it.
Just wish my car was not damaged on the side that the CAI goes on.
Previous owner wreck the car and fixed the out side but not the inside corner .
My question is this has the SLP CAI always been made from stainless steel?
Because the one I have some body painted it and I would like to Polish it if it's stainless steel.
And I see some SLP CAI's have a mouting tab to mount it to the radiator support.
So is there a new design and a old one?

Thanks,

Chris.

Re: Questions about SLP's CAI

older design.. one of the first CAI setups for LT1.. I used to have it and loved it.. regardless of the finish, unless you really like to undo all the AIR unit it will get scratched when you install or remove it..
at the track, its good to throw ice bags on it and on the intake manifold.. netted me .3 in my 1/4 mile trips.. so well worth it..

From the factory the SLP CAI is black powder coated.. the same unit was sold through GMPP and its finish was polished stainless steel (it was also $100 more than the SLP unit)..

the mounting tab is supposed to be there.. has always been..

be happy.. SLP CAI is much better than those plastic ones.. it will retain the cold from the ice at the tracks better..

if someone tells you garbage about heatsoak, drive for however long you want, pop your hood and feel the CAI tubes.. Mine were never even warm on hot houston days driving for over 2 hours..

I had one and loved it. My only complaint is you have to remove the filters from the bottom to remove the tube. I switched to Moroso because it has a plate that separates the filter and tube. I felt no sotp change between the two. SLP was better looking though.

my SLP has a block off plate between filters and tubes....maybe older versions didn't have it?

Re: Questions about SLP's CAI

Yea I have to buy the filters and the block off plate.
So I will ask them if I can get the mouting tab for it.
So does anybody know if it's made from stainless steel?

Thanks,

Chris.
