Questions about SFC install (BMR)

I should be putting in my tubular SFC soon and need to know a few things. I do know the suspension has to be loaded. Can I just get the car up on ramps? Also will the lower control arm bolts (I'm pretty sure that what they get bolted to) come out without taking the load off of the rear? How exactly did you get your car in the air to install the SFC? BTW I do have a welder.

Thumbs up

as you said above....The car will need to have the suspensin loaded. This can be achieved either on a drive on rack or with 4 drive on ramps.

The control arms will still be able to be removed with suspension loaded. I would make sure to do 1 side at a time and some penetrating oil on the bolts will aid in the removal.

goodluck

Sure, if the car's on ramps of the same height, you're fine. The LCA bolts should come out in this position - the load is on the springs. My car was on a drive-on lift (really tall ramps )

Burning the carpet should not be a problem. They weld to the subframe and the LCA clevis, not the floor.

I did mine on 4 ramps (our lift, lifts the frame not the tires. It sucks to have the lift but not be able to use it) and we got the SFC and body hot as sh..... and from the inside I could feel where the weld was but it was no where close to being hot enough to burn the carpet. Just my experience.

These are the exactly same reasons I went with SLP 3-point Bolt-on SFC....

No worries about welds or roasting my ride...and when I tire of the car (if ever ), I've got another asset I can pull off and sell....which isn't true of weld-in SFC's....

I don't buy the 'the bolts loosen' crap - I've let to find any bolts backing off on them. Lock washers and an impact does wonders
