Questions about headers

Here is what I am wanting to do followed by a couple of questions. I would like to purchase hooker long tubes and either make or purchase a Y pipe (like mufflex). I know I will have to loose the cat that is under the manifold on the driver side Y pipe so can I get a simulator for it and keep the other cat that is after the collector in the Y pipe, or should I loose them both and get sims for both. I would like to keep at least one cat on there but I dont know if it possible to run just one on a two cat setup. I hope this makes sense. Thanks...

not sure about running one cat on side of the y-pipe and no cat on the other side....but i'd get rid of both of them if you don't have to go through emmisions testing...

What he said about losing them, what theyll do if you get one custom fabbed is throw a 3" hi-flow right behind where the two collect, or right next to the transmission, thats the best way to do it.

Yea I was going to run the Y pipe off the headers and and then have the Y pipe go into one pipe right before the last cat. I dont have emission testing here so I guess I will get sims or have the O2 sensors programed out. Then I guess I can take the air pump off but what about the EGR can it be taken off or will it throw codes or anything?

Program out those O2s or get O2 sims, or go OBD I, but running a cat on one side of the engine only sounds bad, even if it didn't effect the power balance that much, I still dont think it would be a good thing. If you really wanted to run a cat, then go for one and go OBD I, or if law requires in your state then just setup 2 cats, it has been done, similar to the FLP setup.
