Questions about crank sensor and dampener hub
Questions about crank sensor and dampener hub
I have a new APE 355 engine for my 97 Z28 and it has key ways cut into the crankshaft. I have installed the timing gear on the crank and the crank position sensor wheel is supposed to go on next. I am using FAST engine managment and so I don't need the crank sensor. Can I just leave that wheel off? I have read something about the crank hub needing to be either longer or shorter with out the sensor wheel, I have the hub off my stock motor and a hub off an Impala motor that is a bit longer. Should I use the hub off the Impala to compensate for the lose of sensor wheel?
Are there aftermarket dampers that bolt to the factory hub. If not is there something that can fit on the crank key and replace the hub all together?

Re: Questions about crank sensor and dampener hub
dont use the hub off the Impala, it is too long, they have a different accessory spacing then f-body cars
you need one from an OBD1 f-body car
or if you are using a stock type chain, just leave the CPS reluctor wheel in place, with no harm
but that wont be possible with a double roller timing set!
as far as i know, there are 3 different hubs (maybe more because of Vettes?) one for OBD1, OBD2 and b-body hubs...OBD2 being the shortest of all 3
