Question on rotating tires with front different from back.

I searched the threads and didn't find anything. One guy asked on the 1/24/03 recently but no response. I'm running Nitto 555drag radials in the back and some firehawks in the front. Any suggestions for tire rotations? Any input would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

You can rotate them front to rear like any other tire combo. That is as long as the tires are the same size (i.e. 275/40x17 all the way around). If they are different sizes front and rear then you are limited on what you can do. Since all of your tires are directional, you have to make sure they stay rotating the right way. Assuming the tires are all the same size, just do a simple front to back swap and you should be fine. If they are different sizes, then the only thing you can do is break the tires off the rim and take the LF tire and put in on the RF wheel and the RF to the LF and the same thing for the back. As you can see there are many different ways to rotate you tires. It all comes down to what your situation is! Good luck....I hope I didn't confuse the crap out of you

It is my understanding that when you are running 2 types of tires(ex. drag radials in the back and regular street tires up front) like I am, there is no rotating the tires unless you want DR's up front and no tration out back. Just get a good alignment and you should be alright. Thats my .02. Hope this helps and good luck.

Are nitto 555's drag radials? I went to the web site to see what kind of tire's they were and the didn't look like the DR's? I could be wrong, if they are, disregard everything I just said because you have no need for DR's on the front of your car! You would have to break the tires off the rims and swap the left side to the right (RR-->LR/LR-->RR/RF-->LF/LF-->RF)and vice-versa. That would be your only option.

When you're running that combo there is no rotating tires.

I ran that combo all last year with very good results. I'm running it with the 555 extreme's on the front and 555DRs on the back and have awesome traction all the time. As long as your alignment is correct you should be fine. I get good treadwear on my fronts. My Rears... well all the treadwear is right down the middle with very little on the outsides. I think these tires actually grow a good amount when you drive. Especially seeing I'm running them about 20psi on the street and still have the same wear pattern.

Do you or anyone else suggest putting the money into doing this- I mean taking the tires of the rim and remounting? And if I do this how often do you suggest? And if this isn't worth should I just get a good alignment and be done with it like the other guy says?
