Question on Piston Height

What is the rhyme or reason to the heights of the pistons? I just pulled my driver side head off and the 4 pistons (going from front to back) are at half height, all the way down, all the way up, and half height. Is this good, bad, or does it not mean anything at all? Someone I know suggested to look at this to determine if there's any crank/rod damage but I really don't know if this means anything. I can get a pic if necessary, I'll be pulling the pass side head either tonight or tomorrow night...

It's normal. The crank throws are in different positions. It's designed that way.
