I know so many guys that wasted money on LG4s and got no were. Your talking about 2 second gap between the motors. One will do 16s stock, the other 14s. With the right Bolt Ons you can get an LT1 in to the 12s. You know how ard that would be with an LG4, staying N/A and driveable. The Lt1 willl be 10X moore driveable than a modded LG4, and faster. We have guys making 400 at the wheels with heads and cam, try making that much on a LG4. Dont waste your time with that thing.

I'm not sure why this thread became the debate of HP differences between single and dual cat LT1s because this guy just wants to drop in an LT1 in his 3rd gen so it'll be 275hp either way no matter what year it comes from right?

I Just was wondering which year LT1 had these power specs.

LT1 cars from 93-96 are rated at 275HP and 333Ft/lbs tq Like everyone else has said the xtra power comes from the exhaust and induction. So if you take that LT1 from rancho and put it in a regular Z28 it will only make 275HP.
the 97 LT1's were rated at 285HP, but this was only because of the addition of #561 castings heads which flowed better on the exhaust side but a touch more restrictive on the intake side. but overall they had a 3% flow ratio increase over the previous years heads. Also that casting cut about a 1lb of aluminum off of each head to save weight. Also Im not sure if this was the 1st year of the dual CATS and OBD2 but I belive it was. Regardless the 97 model cars were a littel more powerful than the previous years.

And then 98 and up they all got LS1's which put a whoopin to the LT1's all day long right off the showroom floor.

NO LT1 or LT4 was rated at 325 HP in F-Body cars, however there were 325HP LT1 corvettes from pre 97. maybe he got his #'s confused. if its from a vette 325 is correct, if its fro man f-body 275 is the #

actually, the info on the LT1s is a little off. all 93-95 LT1s were rated at 275hp and 325lbs. in 96, the hp changed to 285. from the research ive done, they say it was because of the change to dual cats that made the exhaust actually a little BETTER, which sounds kinda weird, BUT it is supposedly a little more free-flowing and less restrictive. in 97, everything was the same performance wise as in 96.

i THINK all year SS's (for LT1) were rated at 305hp for te LT1, which like has already been said, was due to slight induction/exhaust upgrades from the factory.

in 97, the LS1 was introduced in the vette ONLY, and then showed up in the Z's in 98. i believe all of the earlier LS1s were rated in the 305-310hp range with torque in the 330-345 range. i think they changed that hp # a little later after enough people had dyno'd their stock LS1s and seen 300+rwhp

I belive the cam profiles were slightly different in each year based on the type. Like 93's with no MAF have a slightly diff. cam then the 94&95. then the 96&97 had a little different profile due to the dual cats and cylinder head casting change.

I could be wrong but I swear I was on some website with LT1 specs and the cam profiles were different. Not by much at all tho.
