Question on intake leak fix
Question on intake leak fix
I have just put the intake back on my '95, and I am wondering how long I should wait before I torque everything down. I used Ultra Black RTV, and it's about 65* here. I waited 20 minutes before I put the intake on, and when I put the intake on, I finger tightened the 4 end bolts.
What I am wondering is how long I should wait before I start to tighten everything down? I have heard everything from 20 minutes to 24 hours.

.. well i dunno if you did it the right way.. or some crazy way. Anyways.. this is how i do it and it has held upto 10psi of boost.
Lay a ~1/2 thick bead of RTV and the block, put the intake on ASAP making sure to set it down as straight as possible. Then put all bolts on and tighen. Wait 12hours and torque all and start running the car.

IF the car is NOT going to be started for like a week or more after a rebuild do you have to wait 12 hours before torquing the bolts...I have never heard about waiting 12 hours to torque anything is it just me?? Thanks alot...
