Question on Catalytic Converters

I am thinking of removing my Cat? Will I need to reprogram the PCM after I remove it? I don't have emissions here, so that is not a problem. Can I just put a straight pipe in place of? Will it throw a code if I do remove it? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Tuff.

you dont have to reset the pcm, it wont even know its gone. Just go to a local muffler shop and they will weld you in a pipe(mine cost $60).

Your car will work fine. You will get a Service Engine Soon light come up, but with O2 sensors, it will go away.

Oh ok, I didn't read what year his was. Yeah, the OBD1 PCM doesn't even regulate anything with the cats. That's why I want the OBD1 conversion on my car.

I beleive 95 was the last year of the OBD1 PCM and the OBDII started in 96. I could be wrong.

You won't have to. Your PCM is the OBD1. It doesn't regulate whether or not cats are on or off. If you take them off, it won't come on.
