question on block casting #s

question on block casting #s

while i was installing my longtubes, i noticed the numbers 327 cast in both sides of the block. was just wondering if anyone else has seen this.

Yup... Casting number for this style block... Would have to ask GM in its infinite wisdom why it chose it.

Everyone that has ever looked at their LT1 block has seen it. It happens to be the last three digits of the original part number for the block.

Bringing this from the dead on a search.
Shoebox, is there any difference in a 93 vs a 97 LT1 shortblock? I am thinking of buying a 93 shortblock with a CC306 already installed and using my opti, waterpump, etc.

Any 93-97 shortblock will work with any year. You will have to swap anything specific to your current set-up to make it work.

Only reason I was wondering was because an engine builder told my buddy that there was a difference in the two.

There are some slight differences, but that does not mean it won't work.
