Question on airfoil installation? gasket?

i recently installed an alum. airfoil, and the one i got off ebay did not include the air lid gasket, however, i have read that some say you MUST replace the gasket once you take it off......the stock one was rubber and was not damaged, but was severely crinkled and such, it serves some purpose other than cleanlieness???because it has a hole for a air inlet passage in the gasket?
what should i do?

Use a little high temp silicone along with the gasket.Unless you want to be **** about it and get a new gasket.

A new gasket is cheap and easy. In my case however, I tossed the gasket which was damaged and used a bead of high temp RTV. Works fine, your not dealing with any significant pressure here.
