Question about low oil pressure
Question about low oil pressure
I got my car back from the repair shop and it runs normal. I needed to get the starter, 1 fuel injector, and the seals replaced. The car runs fine now, but the mechanic reported the oil pressure was low. The needle drops near redline at warm idle, goes up to the 1/4 mark when revved up, and only goes as high as halfway at WOT. However, I recall my gauge always reading on the low side. What could be causing this, and is it related to the stuck injector? Is there an easy way of checking the oil pressure manually to see if my gauge is off? I should add, the car has 61,000 miles on it, the shop I went to has a great reputation, and I can't hear any knocking or chatter under the hood.

Thx for the response. I can't sleep easy knowing the pressure is that low, so I'm gonna take the car back in on Monday. The mechanic suggested checking the oil pump, and kept warning me about spun bearings if the gauge is that low and the readings are correct. I recall hearing that replacing the oil pump often masks what the real problem is, so how do I know the pump is the sole problem?
