Question about cleaning rotors.

I read in another thread that a good thing to do is get an abrasive Hawk's blue pad to clean off the rotors. I could not find this anywhere. So my question is, what can I use as a substitute? I was thinking about one of those green pads that are used for cleaning pots and pans. Is this a bad idea? Thanks.

Why would you want to clean your rotors? If they are off and you are changing the brakes, 9 times out of 10 they are going to need to be turned or replaced.

I forgot to say that when I brake, there is a shaking that may seem like the rotors are warped and that is what I thought had happend but I was told to try cleaning them off with that pad to get rid of any build-up and hopefully the shaking. That is why I want to clean them.

I would say that your rotors are warped. How many miles are on them?

Rotors are probably warped, but you won't hurt them with a cleaning pad.
