Question about 1.6 Self Aligning RRs

I am interested in purchasing these...

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku

My engine has only 53k on it, so I don' think I need new springs yet. How easy of an install would this be?

I imagine it's as simple as bolting them on, and probably grinding away some of the stock valve cover baffles?

Has anyone used these recently?

Thanks guys!

where does it say there self aligning? Cause if that pic is correct, those aren't self aligning rockers. There non self aligning. Any reason why your not considering the Crane Gold self aligning rockers? There cheaper then that too.

Says Self-Aligning on my picture...BTW, I would not go with 1.6RRs without getting appropriate springs---probably good dual springs which should fit stock seats. Otherwise you are going to have problems both in performance and valvetrain integrity. JMHO.

its says..."Self-Aligning= Yes"

Pay no attention to the pic, that's a pic of 1.5 RRs anyways...

So what's the opinion on the springs, change them out too?

I have never really messed with the valvetrain on this car, so I am not sure about how easy of an install it is or isnt.

Springs aren't bad if you have good compressor. Shoe probabby has a good site for changing springs---he's got everything else covered.

Working on the valve train is not only worthwhile, but great experience.

Agreed, you definitely need new springs and these are the cheapest that would work reliably. However, if you ever plan on a cam with more lift than the hotcam has, then you should go ahead and get those springs now. You don't want to do them twice...

What? Great experience?

Maybe with the motor out of the car.... I'm 6'2", and leaning over to get to the valvetrain is no fun at all, espcially the ones under the cowl

When I said "worthwhile" and "great experience" I meant for the mechanic who did mine---I'd never do it myself.

First of all, your stock springs never were good.
Second, if they ever were good, they're worn out now.
Third, put new springs on with 1.6 rrs, and you will have a happy valve train.

Make SURE ya get the retainers and locks for whatever springs ya get. I didn't a while back and it cost me an engine when the stocker broke. I'm talking block, both head, pistons cam, etc.
