Question about 1.6 RR's install

I have 106,000 miles on my 96 LT1 now, Ithe car runs Awome and I have great oil pressure and the car has ran a best of a 8.2 in the 1/8 and I am looking too add enough power to run 7's. My question is, I am wanting to get some 1.6 Comp Cam PRO MAGNUM RR's but my friend at comp cams said that My stock springs would bind or float out. Would LT4 springs set it up find, He just wants me to put a cam kit in it, but i don't want to or have the money.

Would it be safe just to do the 1.6's and Lt4 springs or would that be dumb.

Btw I just ordered a Adjustable Torque arm, Lower control arms, Re-location brackets, and a Passenger side airbag.
I ran my 8.2 with bolt-ons and 17X11 with Nitto 555R tires. If this all is not good for 7's I want to add Dual electric cutouts to open up right after my LT's.

Also, I have tunning done by Bryan at pcmforless should I have him retune my PCM for the 1.6's if I do get them on.

Any advice would be awsome guys.

The LT4 Hot springs are cheap and are a necessary minimum
requirement for 1.6 rockers with a stock cam. Might as well
pick up a set. I think they are less than $40.

My buddy who is a mechanic is doing the install and said that the rockers would be easy, I have yet to talk to him about the spring install. Is installing the springs just as easy. Thanks

Spring install is more complicated; you'll need a spring compressor, compressed air to hold the valves in place (via the spark plug hole). Brent Franker's page or Shoebox will have an install write-up.

You DO NOT need compressed air while changing springs, as long as the cylinder you're working on is at TDC.

<<<< been there, done that.

I think More performance makes a pretty good Spring too. I will just have to talk to my mechanic friend about it. I really want to put the 1.6's on my car, I have heard good gains just from them. I already have just about everything up to the RR's so I suppose there the next step. Thanks guys.

Does anyone usually know how long it would take to do the spring change.
