Arrow QTP or DMH cutout?

Which one of these is better/has proven to be more reliable?
Thanks.

I don't use one but the talk amongst friends round here is that the QTP model is "more reliable".

FWIW....

Do a search and you will see the DMH is much better. They have a 4 year warranty. They are also an advertiser on this board.

DMH, they actually seal and don't rattle. And if you have problems, they have a 4 year waranty.

I have a DMH, but do not have any experience with QTP. The research I did told me the QTPs are less reliable. Many people complained about them either leaking or rattling when fully closed. Haven't heard either of those complaints about the DHM unit.

And as stated above, Dave from DMH offers a 4 year replacement warranty on his e-cutout

I have a QTP and I needed to put some sealant on the edges so it wouldn't rattle. Other than that I think it is awesome, and I use it a LOT. The switch is cool and the unit is solid. I never tried the DMH, but since they don't accept credit cards and no major vendors sell DMH I stayed away from it.

I vote DMH (have one!). When I did my search about 8 months ago, DMH came up time and again above QTP. Dave is great to work with (he made me a stainless cut-out to match my Borla system). Mine has been in for about 6 months w/o a single problem. Hard to beat a 4 year warranty, too. Hope this helps! BTW, I have pics if your interested. Just email me @ mlaman@sbcglobal.net.

I have the DMH and i like it alot. But i think mine is starting to rattle a bit when fully closed. Because if i have it closed in the low rpms my exhaust makes a wierd slight rattle noise but i don't here the noise is i open my cutout a bit.

<--- QTP E-Plate user:

I'm not sure what the DMH looks like or operates but the QTP cutout is crap! The motor gets lose so easy to the gear housing and if that happends, the motor gets wedged in the gear box gears and then frys out! This is how these pieces of crap break. So when it gets lose, you have to take the gear box apart to get inside and re-tighten the motor screws that bolt the motor to the gear box. Very messy and lil parts to fiddle with. I contacted QTP and they said $30 for a replacement motor. Anyhow, My suggestion is for all QTP users.....once you purchase it, take it apart and JB weld those screws that bolt the motor to the gear box!!!

Hey Ion, I had a QTEC for awhile. I'll never deal with them. I e-mailed them several times saying I had problems with mine leaking horribly, and they ignored me. What a piece of crap that thing was.....get the DMH, they're ALOT better from what I hear.

I have same story.Bought a qtp..it leaked loudly when closed. Was told to rtv it..it uses rtv anyway as with its design you can't put a real gasket in between it and the cutout.Well I tried but screwed up the cutout threads. This was with the cutout they sold me to go with the qtp.I agree there is too much play in the motor and blade.
I just got a dmh but am messing with car right now and likely it will be a few weeks till get it installed.I hope its better.Looks like some saying they don't leak and some saying the odd one does.

I could care less if different places sell the qtp. When I first bougth it I think the maker insisted it didnt need any redesign..WELL IT DOES>>!!! FIX the rattling when closed.!! And fix the sloppiness.
Mine did work ok to other than the rattling. But I paid good money for my b and b and like to not hear rattling when its closed.

The RTV thing worked for me for about 3 or 4 days until it got coated with carbon and started leaking again

My DMH experience

my DMH started rattling when closed, after about a month. So I emailed Dave. He said to send it back to him. When I got it back, I found that he replaced the motor with a newer version which works great! My old motor used to accelerate/decelerate as it opened or closed.....just listen to the sound of the cutout opening and closing with the car engine off and you'll know what I mean. With the new motor it opens and closes smoothly and does not do the same old accelerating/decelerating deal. The cutout seems to open and close about 1 second slower than before (4 seconds in all) but it seems to actually have more torque. I love my DMH....and with the great support Dave has provided, I highly recommend doing business with him!
