Is it at zero lash as soon as you feel ANY resistance spinning the pushrods, or when it becomes hard to rotate, or when they don't rotate at all. Also, when doing it with the engine running, do you still do a 1/4 turn as soon as they stop clicking? I'm pretty sure me doing this wrong is what is keeping me from getting my engine running.

 

Zero lash is no up and down travel of the pushrod; should be equivalent to slight resistance when turning.
