Putting heads on after valve-piston slap... anything you can think of?

All day today I have been gettin the car back together. Got new plugs in on the driver side (didnt take that head off) and picked my head up from the machine shop where they checked install heights, seat pressures, and other various things on the heads. My main concern is what I had to do to get the scoring off the piston from where the valve slapped it. I used a scotchbrite pad while the piston was at TDC, and had the area sprayed w/ carb cleaner to keep it kinda wet... there was a towel right under what we were scratching, picking up the scotchbrite particles and such. My question is, how if any way possible can I flush the system? Will changing out the oil do it? is there something more I need to do? I will say I was OVERLY careful of getting ANY particles off the pistonhead and under the towel, and would pick all the particles up, shake towel off, move to diff part of towel, and then sprayed head w/ towel down there, started over. Took us an hour or so of careful working. I am about to put the heads back on, but someone plz stop me if I did something wrong, or if you have any idea of what I could have done wrong, please tell me now!

thanks,
Eddy
