Putting a 96 auto transmission in a 97 car

So I have a 96 Z28 that the engine went out on, seats are torn up, body needs to be painted etc. I have been trying to figure out if I want to put the money in it to fix it. In the meantime, a mechanic that I know had someone bring him a 97 car that needs a transmission and the owner wants to get rid of it for cheap. My tranny from my 96 car is in good shape. Would putting the 96 tranny in the 97 car be a strait swap? Would anything need to be done with the computer or could I just bolt it up and let it ride?

Also, the 97 has around 200,000 miles on it but my mechanic is familiar with this particular car and says it is in great shape. Is it even worth messing with even if I get it for cheap? How much longer could it possibly last?

The transmission should bolt in with no problem.
