Put me into the 13's!!

OK, heres the deal. Last week I ran a 14.3 at 98 mph with a 2.204 60 foot and a .514 r/t. The car has an A4.

Right now, my car has a K&N filter, Hooker Exhaust, Gutted cat, TB bypass.

I was running the car on regular gas just for that week and forgot to put my usual super in (im a turd), I had 40 psi in the chrome ZR1s, and I have a 2.73 rear.

I was thinking of getting the 160 degree stat, going with 3.73s, and maybe going with the full intake.

Basically, I just want to get into mid to high 13's by June.

Thanks for the help guys!

Go

drag radials, 3.73's, full intake and mail order tune will get you mid 13's for sure. T-stat and fan switch will help it run cooler, but it wont give you much of a power gain....it may help so you dont lose power though. Weight loss is also huge, spare tire and jack, back seats, passenger seat, front swaybar will also help a tenth or so.

Thanks for the quick responses guys!

Definatly going to go with the 3.73's and the PCM tune. Any suggestions for who to go to for the tuning? I need to do the whole nine yards with it (still have the stock speed limiter)

Any suggestions for the intake? Most power?

I'm pretty sure the car is running dead on for 140,000 miles. I ran with everything in the car including the subs and box.

Also, who makes a reputable T-stat? Thanks!

Hypertech is the only one I know of making the LT1 specific 160 stat. Fan switches are sort of redundant with reprogramming. On the reprogramming I like pcmforless.com, but would not hesitate to try madz28.com either. A better TC would also be a surefire way to signifigantly drop your times.

BTW, I used to live in some of the old Hercules company housing just off 46 in Kenvil, boy that area changed in the last 15 years.

My heavier vert hits very low 14 and one high thirteen. Here are the mods. I also have 2.73 gears. Now some say some of the mods are waste of time but again a vert is heavier than your car and I am at 1900feet above sea level..that hurts too.Corrected for sea level times my car is in the thirteens.G2 induction, holley powershot filter,1le bellows, airfoil, granatelli maf,hpp tuning out.160 stat,lt4 km.Thats it.Airpump removed zero other lightening..spare tire in car..I haven't changed exhaust yet..stock cats, stock exh man..stock everything else.

Your best mod seriously is some tires like nitto drags and converter..car should easily be low thirteens .Other mod for cheap is cutout..some get a tenth or two from underdrive pulleys.
Gears should help a few tenths..I would personally rather go with 3.42 and say a 2800 to 3000 stall than go up to 3.73 in an auto.Personal taste though.Rockers think should also be worth a tenth or two..

96capricemgr, thats cool. I live like 5 mins from the old Hercules place. Wish they actually would do something with all that land. Maybe we can get an approval on a dragstrip there

As for the stall, I was thinking maybe a 2800-3000 stall from Yank or something. I just want to keep the car streetable because it is my daily driver.

Also, did removing your AIR and EGR lines and pump boost your HP any? What did you use to block the holes up with?

I would put an off-road (i-pipe) in place or in the gutted cat, otherwise it is restricting your flow more than the stock cat would due to the turbulence inside the cat. Gears alone should put you into the 13's. Also try a CAI, the stock airbox sucks.

I would install a cutout on the intermediate pipe and also some gears (3.73 or 4.11) and drag radials and you will be there, as for CAI just leave the screen in the MAF and remove the air filter at the track. You will probably be closer to mid 13's with this setup than high 13's.
