Push Rods lengths different?

Hey Guys
I believe I may have done something very stupid
Are the push rods for the intake and exhaust valves on a LT1 different lenghths ... I have just finished rebuilding mine and I have been having problems adjusting my valves...its no matter how i do the adjust hot or cold ...the end result is a crappy idle.

I was told by the guys that did my block prep that since the lifters are new, it didnt matter if I keep the rods in order?????

any suggestions would be helpful

what do you mean by a crappy idle and what makes you think its an issue with mis-adjusted valves

also some info on the build might be a good idea, because it does not sound like the 100% stock vehicle you have in your sig

AT first start up (break in) Idling was eratic. I loosened the rocker nuts alittle and a great improvement was the result. Put a OBD1 computer on it and everything (but the idle) is running within parameters, no codes. Could it be something else like fuel, possibly, but I have to run with the fact that loosening the rocker arm nuts improved my idle ...alot!

Ive adjusted these valves on this car before after a head job and did it perfect...so , i am quickly fading on the fact that my valves are just out of adjustment...just want to eliminate everything first.

And , yes, this car has no modifications whatsoever. other than OEM replacement parts...stock engine.

Thanks for your inputs

Actually 1 1/4 might be a tad too tight. I believe factory recommendation is about 1 turn----most go no more than 1/2 turn, but if it is too noisey you might try to tighten them a tad more to see if they quite up some. JMHO
