push rod length question...

push rod length question...

my block has been decked to .003/4ish and my heads are milled to 50cc. is stock length push rods to long on a hydraulic roller? thanks

I use light weight checking springs...and check the PR length

you have to check it....... 0.050 is what they come in...taller or shorter. You get a checking pushrod and check it then get the closest thing to it within .050

well what im gettin at is i bought 7.200 comp chromoly pr's when i started my build...since then ive gone a lot further than that i though i was going to go. and 7.150 and 7.200 are the only 2 comp sells...so i was just curious...

Comp isn't the only game in town for PR. Check what you need then worry about getting them from a vendor.

with your setup i would run a 7.150 as i had more or less the same specs you had and with that length pushrod i had acheived proper valvetrain geometry, with the roller tip perfectly riding on the middle of the tip of the valve.

The only way to know the correct pushrod length is to check the rocker arm geometry as has been previously suggested. Comp sells pushrods in any length you require, available in 0.050 in. increments. When I put my setup together, I ended up using Comp Hi Tech 7.050 in. pushrods to get the geomety right.
