pulley help

im replacing my opti, so i need to get off the crankshaft pulley. ive got the 3 bolts off, but my dad insists there is one in the middle i have to take out. it just spins when i try to put something on it though. does this come out, and what size is it actually? i have a pulley, but the bolts are too big for it. what else can i do?

The last one in the center is holding on the hub, you're not wanting to remove that. So the three bolts around the circumfrence of the damper are all you need to remove to get it off. Just make sure when you're pulling off the damper that you're not also pulling on the hub, as it's not coming off...

If the pulley is really stuck, you might need to use a puller.

To state it another way, the pulley (round disk that the belt rides on) needs to come off and only the 3 bolts hold it in place. The hub (behind the pulley, looks like a "Y") can remain in place to remove the opti. It does have a center bolt but it doesn;t need to be removed. Once the pulley is removed, the hub can be rotated to clear the opti.

You are just trying to remove the pulley, right? Did you use a puller like in the link I posted? If the puller is not centered, it will bind the pulley on the front of the hub and it might not come off.
