Pro's and Con's of a 94 F-Body vs. 97 F-Body??
Pro's and Con's of a 94 F-Body vs. 97 F-Body??
I just picked up a 1997 Trans Am!!! I had a 94 Trans am, But it was Totaled while sitting in my parking lot
. So went out and found a really nice 97. I know that there are a couple of differences between the 94 and the 97. I know that the 94 had an OBD1 and the 97 has a OBD2 in it. When I start to modify things will this create a problem? It feels like it has the 3.42's in the rear end. Is that the gear that came in the 97's? What are some of the other differences, with the exception of interior changes?

dual cats on 97 which has 285hp the 94 had 275 stock. If its an m6 its possible it has 3.42s. the 97 also has the vented opti which the 94 did not have unless u swapped it.

Check the RPO code sheet in your glove box to see which of these codes you have. It will tell you what rear gears you have.
GU2- 2:73
GU4- 3:08
GU5- 3:23
GU6- 3:42
The 97's got the upgraded interior with the newer console and digital gauge cluster. They also have the fuel rail cross-over line.
