Progress on my DIY head porting job :D

Got the intake ports done. I'd say this is the hardest part since you only need to take very little material from the exhaust ports and just polish them and the combustion chambers, and the bowl work is small.

Opinions?

Looks pretty good, but as a rule of thumb do not touch the floor more than clean-up it will kill the ports if too much is removed from the floor, the hump just before the valve actually helps the velocity through the port.

Cool, thanks. Yup, didnt mess with that except taking off the casting flash. Thats all im really doing besides widening the intake ports to match the gasket.

hey pasky,it looks as though you have paid close attention to your portwork,i hope you are going to use 2.00 1.56 valves with undercut stems to get the max from your portjob, you will have some nice gains with the job you have done, keep up the good work....

Yah I would go ahead while you have it apart and buy 2.00 and 1.56 valves have the seats cut prelim for the valves, blend the bowls to match the new valves, cut a little off the guides sides, then have the valve job finished. There is a trmenedous amount of flow to be had just in the bowls.

To be honest, that is not much of porting, the bowl area does not look worked much and the guide bosses do not even look touched, you should see the ones I did And even when I was done, I'm like screw it and sent them to Lloyd, just to make sure I get every bit of power I can.

I havn't done the bowls yet . I just started on these and did the intakes. Im also not looking to get max power out of these, im just trying to get some more since I already have the heads off and the engine is out of the car.

I guess it's too late...but you're not supposed to gasket match heads/intake if you want all the power. You're supposed to port match. Just thought I'd throw that out there...

Where did you hear that? Im not looking for gobs of power, but hell, for $40 in bits, I can gain some horsepower while their off the car.

Well to me it's just common sence. Cause when you torque down the bolts the gasket expands INTO the ports now. But I got a the final word from Joe Mondello. Some of you might know him. He came to my class and ported some heads for us, showed us his skills, stuff like that. It was pretty cool...but yea, port match, not gasket match
