it has been doing this for 6-7months+..
my car doesnt want to start when it has been sitting(overnight, a few hrs, etc), it will turn, but wont start until the 2nd or 3rd try. but if turn the key on-off-on-off a few times, then try to start it, it will usually start, so i know it has something to do with my fuel, i dont think that my fuel system is holding pressure, i thought my fuel pump might be going out, but its been a VERY long time of it doing this, and my fuel pump is still working, so i think its a bad valve or something, or what about the fuel pressure regulator? are those hard to change? what do you guys think, anyhelp is GREATLY appreciated

 

only way to find out is to answer your own questions by way of a fuel pressure test. The results will lead you to the corect answers. See what it primes to, if it holds, how fast it bleeds down ect

you can get a pressure gauge from autozone or a nice long one from Jegs or summit (look in the LT1 section) All you have to do is hook that gauge up to the test port on the back of the fuel rail and take your readings.

sure. It could be a lot of things. But the fuel system is one of the most simple things to test and rule out.

 

If your pressure is good? Then pull up your fuel rail. Disconnect your coil wire. Have someone turn the key over. Observe if all of your injectors are spraying. It should look like a mist in a conical pattern. If the spray looks good, and your pressure is good, then your fuel system is fine. Then the problem is not your fuel system.

wouldnt it pretty much have to be the fuel system tho? what else could it be???

 

Have you performed those checks on your car yet? It could be electrical.

no havent had the chance to, i just moved up to dallas from SA and have no tools etc w me right now, how would it be elictrical, then it wouldnt make a difference if i went on off on off on off, then tried to start, that would show that it wasnt electrical?

I know you are frustrated. I didn't say it was electrical. I said it could be. After you get access to tools, check your fuel system with those checks. If it's not fuel, it has to be something else. Just trying to help you narrow it down.

This is probably too easy, but I would check the fuel filter it if were mine. Maybe Seafoam again. Do the cheap and quick stuff first.
