Unhappy PROBLEMS need help within ASAP!!!

hi there,

let me explain everything first...

my 94 LT1 has the LT4 HOTCAM kit and i just finished installing it with the help of some board members ( big help guys, thanx )

the motor hasn't been rev'd past 5000 rpm and there is less than 1 hour of running time on the motor. my problem is...

i started the car up tonight and i herd a ticking sound, id didn't go away when the motor warmed up and it got worse as i rev'd the motor.....so i shut it off and opened the driverside valve cover!!!

upon inspection i found that on my # 3 cylinder that the lower valve spring shim had broke/ chipped and i found a large peice in my head. the car wasn't back firing so i dont think i wrecked my valve or droped anything into the cylinder!!!!!!

the peice is the size of ab lincons face!!!!

i dont know what to do now, what could have caused this???

if my rockers weren't adjusted right would it cause the shim to break???

so what should i do now?

people have told me to pull the heads(i dont think this is needed) and change/check all the shims to make sure everything was safe!!!

i think i didn't adjust the rockers right and over tighten'd them, so know what, what do you think caused this and how do i get the correct parts to fix it.

does anyone know the part numbers for the hotcams shims and lil stuff like that?

please and thanx

adam

If the rocker was too tight it might do it.

Or the spring wasn't installed at the right height.

no, i cracked the metal (shim) disk that is below the spring. its a retainer shim.

there are 2 per spring, one on the top and one on the bottom!!!

i just need to know if the disks are the same from a LT-1 to an LT-4

i didnt crack my head or anything like that!!!

i don't think they are the same, but you should be able to pick up some new ones from Jason Cromer pretty cheap. something was definitely wrong though. it should not have done that. were the rockers making a lot of noise?
