Re: Problems with comp true double roller!

I measured the thickness of the gear itself too, hopefully someone can verify these numbers to see if mine is wrong. The thinnest part in the middle, where the bolts go though to the cam is .146" thick. The ring that goes around that middle indent portion, that actually hits the cam gear to keep it from going into the block is .256" thick. These are approximate, as we didn't exactly have the right tools, but they are very close. Anyone have a set they can measure to verify or disprove?

I've seen it be that problem... if it is then whoever sold you the cam is responsable.

You're not the first, my friend had the same problem with the Comp timing set. It bottomed out on the cam retaining plate bolts. The Cloyes set fits without any clearance issues, except for the cover.

Thumbs up Re: Problems with comp true double roller!

CamaroRI, I can't pass up a deal like that! Let me know what the shipping cost would be to zipcode 48094 for that brand new LT1 timing set, (nope, I don't need the stock LT1 cam); and PM me your address and I'll drop you a check to cover the actual shipping costs. I could definitely use a new timing set, I'm currently using the stock LT1 set up, but I've got a little more slack in the timing chain then I'd really like to have. I'll look for your PM.

well, I just got back, and I bought the cloyes one now. It looks idnetical to the comp cams one, except the bottom sprocket is a little different... We will see how she fits soon!
