Valve float is a function of the spring not being able to control the valve due to weight, acceleration or a combination of both. While the weight of the rocker arm that is pushing on it does effect overall weight it doesn't effect the weight the spring has to control IMO. Also there is a huge difference between static weight and rotational weight. The ProMags may weight more, but if that weight is at the pivot point it's not going to have much of an effect, again IMO.

Well, one things for sure, whether weight is a problem or not, I either need to rebuild these or buy new. One way or another they have to come off, since I don't know how to rebuild them and I don't want to wait for turn around time, I'm going to order new ones. This may not fix my problem, but I don't need metal in the motor.

I've heard of people sending their rockers back to Comp for a rebuild and getting a new set in return. Think the charge was about 1/2 of new.

I've sent back lifters to Comp and had them send me new in return, although "new" is probalby just someone else's rebuilt unit. If you are going to buy new then I would still call Comp and send them in for inspection and rebuild, it shouldn't cost anything and you can sell them to make back some $$.

That is exactly what I plan to do. I don't really have high hopes of this solving my problem, but you never know, something could by binding up in the trunion and causing problems. Like I said, I had these on my last motor and I had a lot of valvetrain issues, not because of the rockers, but other issues that could have damaged them.

How exactly are you torquing the poly locks? I set mine with a torque wrench to 30lb/ft. So far, no problems. I'm running stock heads, 7/16" pro mags, GM guideplates, and 7.2 comp magnum pushrods. I'm turning mine to 6200, but have the limiter to 6500.

Any way to take a high res picture of the problem and post it up?

I guess I'm just trying to figure out in my head what would cause a poly lock to come loose. I keep coming back to some type of vibration or insufficient "locking" of the poly lock. Just kinda thinking out loud.

Well, it turns out we had one of them flipped over and I can't remember how we did the rest, this time Lloyd said to set it where I want it, then tighten lock to 20 ft lb. I don't think they came loose again, but I still have one making noise, that particular one had more metal powder around it than others. I don't think they would have come loose again, but I'm just replacing them because I don't want to wait. The car has been down for 1.5 years with build and issues in the last 5 months. Almost time to sell and buy a LS vette.

The part that goes over the stud that rotates. They have to go on a certain side up and that one got turned over.

Oh ok, lol, that's why they kept getting loose, because the flat part was down instead of up? I had something totally different pictured in my mind so I figured I would clarify first
