Angry Problem with MSD Ignition Box?

I've gotten a used MSD 6A ignition box from a friend. No problem in his car. But when I hooked it up (I also used the wireharness) sparks are flying like 4th of July when I touch the positive end of the ignition box to the battery. The sparks fly whether the ground to the box is hooked up or not. Can anybody tell me what's going on? Did I miss something?
Thanks- Any info would be helpful!!!!!!!!
