Problem installing injectors?!?!

Bought some Bosch 30# injectors, and in trying to reinstall them back into the fuel rail, I've ran into problems. For some odd reason, they dont seem to sit right and backwards. Meaning: When I have them 'placed' the plug is actually facing the wall of the intake and therefore cant place the connector into it. Its almost as if its reversed. When I looked closely at the injectors, I noticed the lips had different grooves in them.

The yellow is the 'problem' I'm having, that groove is what (or what I think) is causing the problem. Its like two half moons on opposites sides of the injectors and they need to be moved 90 degrees in order for it to fit. I called the company and they said all injectors are the same (LS1, LT1's, TPI's, Mustangs....).

So what am I doing wrong here? I feel like a monkey...

i think thats the way mine loooked, too. Just get it on the right way, then see about getting that clip on there. The clip should fit those, but I'm not sure what your clip looks like. Sorry I can't be more help, but good luck.

It might be that you are trying to put the clips in the wrong set of grooves. I will try and remember to take a few pictures of my fuel injectors when i get home. I just replaced my 74# with 36# and didnt have any problems.

AlexsZ,
Forget those clips. Many of us run the SVO's without them, without any problems. If you take a close look at the injector seats in the manifold, you'll see there's really no way they can go further in the manifold, so they can't "slip out" of the fuel rail.
I tried to force/push those clips on my SVO's, just to sooth my soul a bit, but it's really not worth the effort IMHO.
Good luck

Thanks for taking the time on those pictures....mine look to have different grooves than yours. I'm just gonna slice a groove in the top of the injector to insert the clip....I guess just as a precaution.

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated!!

You're trying to insert the clip in the wrong spot. The clip goes on the other slot, the one not circled in yellow (the one closer to the o-ring) :-). I just installed my 30# svo's 2 days ago. You can see on monk's pic that he used the same slots as me. And they're right, ya don't need em anyways, just a nice precaution.
