Probe Pistons and Rings
Probe Pistons and Rings
I'm researching rotating assemblies and I'm going with a fully forged setup. Looks like I'm going to go with a Scat 4340 Forged Crank 3.750 stroke, SCAT Forged 6.00"4340 H-beam rods. I'm a little unsure about pistons however. I was told by one supplier that Probe is the only Piston company that makes a piston that where a six inch rod application does not put the pin in the ring lands.
Anyone have any experience with these pistons? I'm not trying to save money by buying the Probes. I was more interested because of the pin/ring land characteristic described above.
I would eventually like to spray this motor with maybe a 150 shot and would be interested in piston/ring configuration recommendations. I don't have an unlimited budget, but I'm not going to attempt to save money by buying sub-standard parts either. I'm definitely into overkill and would rather spend a little more money and do it right once, not cheap twice.
Thanks.
