To prime or not to prime?
Just finishing up my first ever head gasket job and was wondering wheter or not, in my situation, if I needed to prime the oil pump. The car has sat for about 2 months. I drained the oil about 1 month ago. I already put the intake back on because I didn't know about priming the oil pump. Like I said, it's my first rodeo.
Now, if I really do NEED to prime it, I guess I'll just pull the intake back off because I sure don't want any unnecessary engine damage. I've also read a few older post on some pulling the PCM BAT fuse (BTW, I know where the PCM is, don't know where the BAT fuse is?
Any pictures? ) and turning the motor over with the starter until they see oil pressure. Didn't look like this was reccommended by many. Soooooo, since this was not a total rebuild, can I just pour some oil down in the lifter valley and on the rockers and call it good or would you suggest I pull the intake back off and prime the oil pump? Any help is appreciated.
