Price for Rebuild

HPP in lewisville Texas is saying I have a bottom end knock. The motor has less than 5 miles on it and the company that built it is now out of business. I am on my own for the new rebuild. How much is a good price for them to remove the long block and get it rebuilt(hopefully rods and crank are intact) and put it all back together with my old forged i beams and new forged pistons?

Keep in mind i think minimal damage has been done to the internals and no serious machine work will be needed.

Just have them change out the bearings and check everything out. With 5 miles on it the rings and everything else should be brand new. I would imagine it not being more than $350 to assemble the short block, add bearings and some gaskets. You should be lucky that it didnt have serious damage.

Anyone know the estimated hours automotive shops use to price out the r&r of the long block?

That is a loaded question. No one can tell you how much when you don't really know what is wrong with the engine. You probably spun a bearing and if you can find someone who can tell you what the damage is without pulling the engine, good luck.

Mechs charge anywhere between 55/hr to 85/hr=- plus parts. Ask HPP what they charge per hour, but it won't make much difference if they have to pull the engine and take it apart.

I truely hope that it isn't serious, but $hit happens. I know.
