Price and parts needed for LT install?

I'd like to hear what some people paid to have their longtubes installed! I was quoted $450 and ~1/5 days for the complete install, and I supply the y-pipe and headers.

Is this reasonable? What did you guys pay who had y-pipes custom made? Also, what else do I need? I understand that I may need to buy 1 or 2 aftermarket cats?

BTW I have a 95 Z28 with the stock single cat exhaust.

I had a shop here in Hagerstown MD, install mine for $300. He guessed $200 but there was more to it than he thougt. There are about three shops around here that will do it for $300 or under. Also they charge $200 to make and install custom y-pipe. My duals costed me $300 (even though I was quoted for $200 which i knew was to cheap) installed and i supplied the mufflers. they made the pipes and x-pipe so I still made off pretty good. They did a hell of a job to because clearance is real good for true duals. I would recommed true duals since you live in PA which has no emissions right. They sound awesome and the power gain from LT's and duals was awesome. I now have the loudest street car in town

Yeah I am in PA, but from what I understand there is still a visual inspection- however I think if I have cats I would be alright even with true duals. Man that's expensive though- figure $550 for the headers and hardware, $200 for the y-pipe, $300 for the install, and $300 for the duals!?

It sounds tempting, but Im thinking Ill probably just keep a y-pipe and put my cutout before the muffler- that should give me plenty of power(I hope

Headers $550 Headers$550
install $300 Install $300
Y-pipe $200 Duals $375
Cutout $40 No cuto out $0
Catback ? Dont need one
Total = $1090 Total = $1225

The duals are only about $135 more and that is not counting the cost for a catback if you dont have one. Also you dont need a y-pipe for duals. Not sure if you meant that in your last post but that is how you wrote it.

If you're getting duals you don't need a y-pipe...

Single exhaust (to a catback):
$550 headers
$200 y-pipe
$300 install

Duals:
$550 headers
$300 install
$300 duals

Price difference of just $100...

$300 for duals seems expensive, if you provide the mufflers, then it's mainly just pipe, a couple of flanges, and some hangers...

lgmotorsports.com you can get the headers for $389.95, get grade 8 header bolts(mr.gasket $12.99 or ARP $18.99), and
Fel-Pro Blue gaskets part #1470($29.99).
*****do not use the hooker gaskets or bolts....you will regret it****they suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Houston i was charged $200 for the install and $150 for a custom Y pipe, but i would really recommend you to buy the mufflex pipe or stainless works pipe....a custom- built pipe will most likely rattle a lot
