Question Preparing to Fix Intake Gasket

I've seen some post recommending different types of RTV/sealants. Could anyone tell me which is the best to use? Also is it better to order the gasket from GM or an aftermarket supplier?
Thanks
Brian

Re: Preparing to Fix Intake Gasket

I have good luck with FelPro intake gaskets and regular copper RTV.

I've used Fel-Pro gaskets with either blue or black RTV.

I like the Ultra Copper also. It's safe for most sensors and is also a high heat sealant.

GM and Fel-Pro are about the most common sets that are use the most. GM will supply it's own RTV sealant with the kit, I don't know if fel-pro does? The key is to lay a good bead on a clean surface.

Also "scored" the surfaces where RTV was placed. Help the RTV to grip on something. Both on the intake and block.
