Powerslot Rotors - What about Calipers?

Ok i always see kits that just sell rotors for brakes and what not which leads me to belive they want you to use your stock calipers. Does any company sell performance calipers? Somthing in 4 piston or anything better then stock?

Yes there are plenty of companies like Baer, Wildwood and Brembo. Just remember they are extremely pricey. Most people usually upgrade to LS1 calipers.

Yes they'll sell just calipers. Keep in mind that usually a brake upgrade involves a larger diameter rotor, a better caliper, and some way to mount the caliper further away from the hub (since the rotor is larger). So putting on stock-sized rotors with a big huge caliper isn't typically done because you won't be able to dissipate all the heat you generate quickly enough.

I just wanted to buy powerslot rotors and get different calipers. Seems kinda crazy to spend $1,200 on front brakes alone.

If you want better braking them I would highly recommend going with an LS1 brake upgrade. Probably your best bang for buck with regards to brakes.

Stock sized rotors and different calipers will probably net you zero gain. Even crazier than spending that $1200 to improve your breaking!

I agree, do the LS1 upgrade if you want a cheap improvement.

I have heard of the Z06 Upgrade for the front which costs around $825, while i could get baer fronts for about the same price and larger rotors. Whats teh LS1 kit cost, and what is involved for it?

LS1 upgrade off Ebay for around $200. Will give you the LS1 calipers, rotors, pads, and spindles. Everything you need to upgrade your LT1 to LS1 braking. The LS1 brakes are very similar to the C5/Z06 brakes, with the only differences being the C5s get a pressure cast vs gravity cast caliper (slightly stronger resistance to spreading), and a 1" larger diameter rotor. For street, autox or even light roadcourse use you'll probably never notice a difference.

Are they new for that price? I dont want used brakes, that would kinda defeat some of the purpose here.

No that's used, but if you really have to have new, LS1 rotors and pads can be had for about $150 total for everything. Personally, I wouldn't worry about new parts as long as you are getting the original set from whoever you buy from. Most of the ones on Ebay are from wrecked cars, so it's not like the brakes were worn out.

Dont' have part numbers, but for street use I'd just go by Oreilly's and get a set of their lifetime rotors and pads. Cost is right at $150 for two rotors and a set of pads. Or, you could go to Autozone and get the "loaded" replacement calipers which include pads.
