Power for my electric water pump??

Where should i tie in for the power source for my CSR pump?? I know you are not supposed to use your Ignition so it wont be on while starting. I heard something about using the Air pump relay, or the fan relay for power. Can i use one of these?? What if the air pump is turned off in the pcm, can i still tie in to that relay??

Definitely use a separate relay, however you design it. Power for the pump should come directly from the battery through your relay.

Wait? So it's bad to have your water pump on with "Key on, car off"

Thats the way my water pump is wired now, what kind of problems would this cause?

It won't do anything but use a little electricity while trying to start your car.

Use a switched 12v so that you don't have to start the car to get it running. That's half the point of even using an electric water pump.

Half the reason? I didn't know you added an electric water pump verses a mechanical one so you didn't have to use electricity when you crank your car? Or am I misunderstanding that you do in fact need electricty to the mechanical water pump a.k.a. pulley driven one (on this particular motor)? That is not a reason at all to use an electric one. It has nothing to do with saving electricity, last I remember there are no electric bills for using the battery in my car.

Being able to run the water pump off a switched 12v allows you to turn the pump on with the car off, very good for cooling the car off in the staging lanes and making it much easier to bleed the cooling system completely.

Re: Power for my electric water pump??

I think I'll run a wire to my fan swith. So I can turn both fans and water pump on while staging.

Make sure you go down to good ol' O-Zone or Advancer and get ya' some jumper boxes. That way you can restart your car after you sit in the staging lanes and bull**** with your friends leaving your car unattended; while forgeting to turn off the fans and pump.
