power antenna??

Who got power antennas here and how hard was it to install? Being that some idiot on a crotch rocket just nailed me and took my antenna off I might as well go with a power one now.

I wouldn't put a power antenna into a car. It's a pain, and they will break. I believe the replacement assembly is like $80-$100 bucks depending on where you get ripped off. My power antenna lasted to 50k miles and stopped working. I just left the antenna in the up position and said to heck with it. I also unplugged the motor cause it's noisy.

I would do the same thing as you... How hard can they possibly be to install? You have easy access to the housing area due to the spare tire well.

Maybe you should ask in the Custom Car Audio and Electronics section...

Check in the spare tire area, where the antenna coax is, and see if you see a plug for the power antenna. If it's there, all you gotta do is plug and play. I replaced the one on my Formula, and it was about $80 from Dal. This is the genuine GM antenna, not an aftermarket.

I installed one in my car that I got used from someone here for $50. It was pretty easy to install but it wasn't exactly "plug and play" if your car had a fixed antena like mine. The only hard part is you have to run a wire up to the radio and install a new "pin" for it in the plug to the back of the radio. There is a guide on here I found in a search that detailed the instal pretty well.

I have one on my car and I do like the clean look of it. I didn't do the install though, but most stereos have a Power Antenna wire, most aftermarket that is.
