Possible Head Bolt Leak...Questions...

Hi Guys,

Notice a small drip under the car the other day. Jacked her up and noticed a very small amount of coolant coming from the passenger side of the car at the rear of the cylinder head... Just above the starter...

It appears as if the rear 2 head bolts located just behind the dip stick may be leaking... The 383 only has about 1500 miles on it...

I'm hoping that it's only the head bolts and not a gasket...
I changed the oil about 100 miles back and didn't notice any issues there... My coolant level isn't going down at all...

Does this sound more like a leaky head bolt vs. a gasket leak? Would you attempt to tighten the head bolts in question or pull them and reapply sealant to the threads? It's a tight spot down there...

Thanks,
TDOG

After speaking with an F-Bud... He had a similar small leak and used GM part # 3634621 ... Coolant Sealant Pellets... Just crush 2-3 and drop 'em in... the leak will seal itself...

I'll give it a shot...

Thats the crossover tube. banjo bolt.. its quite possible that the seal has gone bad.. woudln't hurt to pull them off although its a pita.. and replace the seal.. Those tab's work great.. but they can clog your radiator and heater core as well..

I put in 3 of the 6 tabs... but I still notice the leak... it's only a drop or two after each drive... not very bad... but I'd still like to overcome it...

I'll try the last 3 tabs sometime soon...and if that doesn't work...I'll be forced to remove the two bolts and add silicon...
