Is it possible to get drivers side header in w/o removing the oil filter? I can't get the oil filter un done with a wrench, its just calapasing the filter. I really want to just get the header in then bring it to an oil change shop to change my oil so they can loosen the filter. Then once the filter is loosened by the "new" filter, I can do my own oil. I am sure they deal with a stuck oil filter every minute

I put my MACs in without any problems with the filter. If you can't get the filter off the block, poke a hole in it with a screwdriver (on the side) and use it for leverage. Hope you like lots of oil everywhere though...

You SHOULD be able to get a good enough grip on it to turn it off by hand.

So are you saying you dont change the oil fiflter in your car? You dont think by crushing the housing your not releasing crap into your oil system? Get a large pair of channel locks and twist the damn filter off. I never pulled the filter for my LTs, but did have to jack the motor up.

Crap won't enter your oil system by puncturing a hole in the filter. Whatever is in the filter isn't going to be recirculated...

Or just use a clean screw-driver?

great, I punctured a hole in my oil filter with a screwdriver, used a pole for leverage on the screwdriver and the screw driver ****ing broke in half.

If the hole is big enough, use a wrench or something that won't break...

The best way to get it off is to take a chisel to the base of the filter, only the filter.Hit the chisel with a hammer.Make sure you are loosening it.

When my oil filter was stuck on my blazer, I had to use a pair of channel locks, it took me about 3 hours to get that off. Tried the screwdriver, just dug through the filter, finally got the channel locks on and inched it off. Actually, more like "millimetered" it off there was so little room to turn it. You will need some BIG channel locks too. Expect a mangled filter, doesn't hurt anything though.

I definitely don't doubt that. Just clamp on with it as best as you can and turn. It'll go eventually, listen to a kick *** song, get pissed, and turn the ****er off. It's how I did it.

JoeSS97 idea was good try a chisel on the base with a hammer in the correct rotation direction... [on the 'seam' of the filter]

I had a stubborn filter once and when i tried taking it off with a wrench and it collapsed i then tried the screw driver and that tore the filter apart but it was still on. I had to get the filter wrench right up on the base right where it mounts. I got it off that way.

I work at an oil change place and have seen some pretty stuborn filters.. The best tool to get them off is a claw thing.. It has 3 bars that go around the filter and as you try and loosen the filter it tightens even more. It is used with a ratchet.. I have had to use a 3 foot breaker bar on that tool before and still barly got the filter off.. There is no need to make them that tight.

Check to be sure you are turning it the right way. I have seen it happen to people. You get upside down under the car and things get mixed up.
