Is It Possible To Get A 94 Opti 180 Off?

ok i just finished my hotcam kit p&p heads and p&p intake install. and when i cank my car it just keeps backfiring and wont start up. i know what yall are gonna say did you check the plug wires and the answer is yes. i triple checked everything before i even thought of posting this. the reason i ask if you can get it 180 off is cuz fire keeps shooting out my ram air box when i try to start it. it acts like the spark is firing at the wrong time. oh yeah and i keep getting the infamous code 16 low res falure code.

Not if you 'indexed' it [the missing tooth] right? It can be forced on tho..
Maybe tight valves?

If you clear the code 16 and it comes right back, I would think you have an opti problem-not that it is on wrong (because there is no way for the computer to know that), but that there is a problem in the optical portion.

Alternate scenario-perhaps if it is on wrong, a backfire could cause a hiccup for the optical sensor and cause the code.
Sorry, just thinking out loud.

Bottom line, probably best to pull it off and make sure you put it on correctly. Even though the splines are indexed, many have gotten it on wrong.

Oh and check the valves first, like Charlie said.
