possible to change cam bearings with motor still in car

is it possible to change the cam bearings with the motor in the car? i did a search and only found two people commenting on the matter, one said it cant be done, the other said that 4 out of 5 can be changed. assuming you could do 4 out of 5, would it be worth it considering that one of them would still be old?

It can be done on about the first 3-4. You have to have the engine out of the car and everything off the back to be able to get to the rear cam bearing. Most of the time they will fall down, which means your going to be pulling the pan too.
Better to do it right. Trying to change them in the car will be much harder than pulling the engine to do it. And your not going to get to the main rear one, so whats the point?

I wouldn't even try doing the bearings with the engine in the car. I just installed new bearings in my block and I think it would be extremely hard to intall the bearings with the crank and rods in there. Plus, having the K member in the way would make it even harder. If your were gonna change the bearings I'd just drop the engine out. It only takes about 4 or 5 hours.
